GOLF

Scotland, the birthplace of golf, must be everyone's dream golf holiday destination.

Although Scotland is famous for its many championship golf courses, there is an abundance of municipal and other courses available for all to enjoy. Classic links courses are to be found all around the Scottish coast or inland there are parkland and lakeside courses.

With 'LANGDALE' placed conveniently within The Cairngorms National Park, it is possible to play a great many courses, even Gleneagles and St Andrews can be played on a day trip from Ballater.

The quality of our local courses is outstanding and with competitive green fees are a must for the avid or casual golfer. You will not have to travel too far to enjoy great golf and great scenery, the excellent Ballater course with its magnificent scenery is a 1 minute drive away from 'LANGDALE'!



FISHING
'LANGDALE' is well situated for a wide variety of fishing.
The river Dee is famous for its salmon and only a short 1 minutes walk away.
Trout fishing is available in many of the local fisheries - Tullich Fishery is a 3 minute drive.
Coarse fishing for pike and perch is also available on Loch Kinord only a 10 minute drive away.
Sea fishing can be found in Aberdeen around a 50 minute drive East.


WALKING
For the serious and not so serious walker there are many interesting walking routes in the area. A walk round Loch Muick is one that shouldn't be missed and is suitable for anyone of reasonable fitness. Glen Tanar Estate (9 miles) and Balmoral Estate (8 miles) have waymarked hill, river and woodland walks. Numerous lovely walks can be made from LANGDALE'S front door, including the Seven Bridges (make a slight detour and visit the ruins of Knock Castle), and the Old Railway Line to Dinnet.

BOULES

During the winter months, November through to March each year , boules is played in Monaltrie Park, Ballater ( approx. 5 mins walk from LANGDALE)  visitors to the village are welcome to take part. Boules are provided free.

TOURING BY CAR
The roads in Aberdeenshire are relatively quiet, and motoring a pleasure. Ballater, being within the Cairngorms National Park, is ideally placed to tour the area, including Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee and the Moray Coast. Need directions?......Just ask Mark or Janet.


ENJOY VISITING CASTLES?
If you enjoy visiting castles, then you will be spoilt for choice on Royal Deeside. The National Trust for Scotland properties of Crathes (with its beautiful gardens), Craigievar, Fraser and Drum Castles are all within a very easy drive.

Balmoral Castle, the Highland retreat of the Royal family, is only 8 miles away, and the grounds and ballroom are open from April to July inclusive. Braemar Castle seat of The Farquharsons of Invercauld is an easy 17 mile drive away from 'Langdale'.
Corgarff Castle and the ruins of Glenbuchat, Kildrummy and Dunnottar Castles are all within comfortable driving distance, and all worth a visit.

CYCLIST AND WALKERS.

Excellent 'safe' cycle and walking routes can be accessed within minutes of 'LANGDALE'S front door.

Secure covered facilities for overnight storing of bicycles.

Quality cycle parts and repair shop within 2 minutes walk of 'LANGDALE'.

Ordnance survey maps supplied.

Packed lunches can be supplied by arrangement.

Provision for the drying of clothing and footwear available.

The list is endless and you can be as active or as leisurely as you wish.....one thing is guaranteed, you will want to return again to Ballater and 'LANGDALE'
